I think I can probably create an outlook rule, just checking if there a way to prevent mailbox from receiving out of office message and do it from exchange 2010.
thanks,

Hi,
I am doing some testing of automating installation of Exchange 2010 on Windows 2008 R2 using Chef, and the isntallations seem to be working according to the setup logs. But, as post-installation testing, I log into OWA as the domain Administrator user right after the installation attempt and sometimes, I get a StoragePermanentException error, similar (actually exactly like) to the one here:
http://msexchangeguru.com/2011/02/28/owa-error/
As I posted on that page comments, it seems like the 2nd solution, going into AD users and computers and checking the "inheritable" checkbox seems to fix the problem, and I think I even found a reference explaining what is causing the problem:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949527
But, (a) I don't quite understand the explanation of the cause and (b) I don't understand why the problem would happen after some of the test installations, but not occur after other test installations. Obviously, even though I am using Chef to perform the installation, I must be doing some "slightly" differently in the preparation to run the Chef run, but I can't figure out what that might be.
To test install, I have a base Windows 2008 R2 image, and then:
- I clone the Win2K8 R2 image and then run sysprep , then
- I re-IP the machine to point to the DNS on my domain controller, then
- I join the Win2K8 R2 machine to the domain.
I then initiate the Chef run to do the Exchange installation, and then I test accessing to OWA as the <domain>\Administrator user after the installation has completed.
What could it be that I'm doing that might cause this problem to occur sometimes and not others?
Thanks,
Jim
In using the search-mailbox cmdlet in powershell is there a way to get all email that went to and from an outside domain.
Lets say your domain is company.com. So I want to find all the email that was sent to something other that company.com and was received from a domain other than company.com.
Please advise if you have an answer.
Exchange 2010
We renamed an AD/Exchange account for a new user. This user still has the X400 and X500 records from the old user. The old users email needs to go to a different user (as an alias for both internal and external email). What's the easiest way to accomplish this?
TIA!
Outlook 2010 is connected to Exchange but not automatically updating.
Within Outlook, Send and recieve is set to immediatley. Checked the 'Disable send and recieve' option is turned off.
Tested the users profile on another machine and Outlook updates correctly, so I presume it's a local profile issue.
Tried rebuilding the Outlook profile on the affected machine and still the same issue.
The users believes the problem occured after configuring iPhone, has anyone else experienced this? Also it doesn't seem likely since it works fine on a seperate test machine.
Any help much appreciated.
Hi together,
we have a 2 node Exchange 2010 SP3 RU10 DAG Group with the following databases
- (mirrored) privatedatabase1 = usermailboxes
- (mirrored) privatedatabase2 = usermailboxes
- (mirrored) archivedatabase1 = private archivemaibloxes
- public Folder database = public folder each server
Outlook version is 14.0.7151.5001
Outlook cache mode is active
Some users experience the following Problem:
- open inbox
- search for anything
- expand search for all folders
- open an item which is located in the archive mailbox
- Message is displayed: "Cannot open this item. Client failure."
There are no issues in owa
What we tried to resolve this issue:
- Delete the client *.ost file. Problem reappears after a short timeframe
- Rebuild the index on the serverside, changed nothing
I know this topic and the underlying Problem https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d248ee50-59a4-4101-b8a5-67dffb51bdf7/oulook-2010-on-exchange-2010-cannot-open-this-item-after-search-in-online-archive-on-indexed?forum=exchangesvrclientslegacy
But we are far away from this "builds" of Exchange and Outlook.
Anyone an idea how to resolve this?
Kind regards
Dear All,

Event ID 4082 as MSExchangeReplication and no other logs will get appear.
We did configured everything as per the Microsoft best Practices like NIC configuration, Storage, Softwares, Patches etc.
EX2010 running on WIn2k8R2 SP1 with EX2010 SP3 rollupdate 7. Suddenly my 3 nodes will get evict from CLuster.

If someone could give me an explanation of how exchange 2010 on Windows 2008 RC two uses the installed SSL certifications I would be grateful. Does exchange do an RCP to a service? That service is? Which event logs do exceptions and errors get written to with communication between exchange and that service?
I have a fully functional hybrid root of the forest exchange server, the only issue is is is that powershell cannot successfully run this command:
Get-ExchangeCertificate
Now everything else works, IMAP and SMTP are fully wrapped by a SSL as is IIS. So having an understanding of how in the background exchange (and that command) interacts with the certification store will be very helpful.
Hello all
I send invite for meeting, but the delegate decline the request, the others invited not receiving the answer canceled for delegate.

I have a customers Exchange 2010 Sp1 server that needs to be upgraded to Sp3 prior to moving them to Exchange 2013. I am trying to install Exchange 2010 Sp3 update and get the following error
The .NET Framework feature 'HTTP Activation' isn't installed. User Server Manager to install HTTP Activation.
When I add that feature I get the following error.
Add-WindowsFeature : Installation of [.NET Framework 3.5.1 Features] HTTP Activation failed. Attempt to install HTTP Activation failed with error code 0x80070643. Fatal error during installation
Through some research I have found that by removing the Windows Process Activation Service feature I will be able to install the WCF and HTTP Activation feature and then re-install the WPA Service.
http://www.techieshelp.com/cannot-install-net-framework-3-5-1-on-server-2008-0x80070643/
My question is: Will removing the WPA Service from a functioning Exchange 2010 install cause issues with Exchange functionality? Will I be able to re-install this feature successfully afterwards? All blogs do not discuss this issue with Exchange 2010 already running on the server, only issues with install...
I have a free-busy/OOF issue that is driving me and my users insane.
Problem:
Steps I have taken trouble shooting this:
Also, and I have yet to determine if this issue is related or not, but I have several users who will experience system hangs when using Outlook. Again, no errors or warnings in the event logs. This too is seemingly random and affects users on different hardware and with different versions of Outlook.
We have a 3 member DAG setup at our location, 2 mailbox servers at the Primary site and 1 mailbox server at the secondary site. We are going to be powering down our Primary site over the weekend for a few hours. My question is how do I gracefully move the mailbox databases over to the mailbox server at our secondary site without losing quorum. My thoughts were to first move the active databases to the secondary site mailbox server, then place both the primary mailbox servers in Maintenance mode (run the startdagmaintenancemode script) and then last shutdown the two primary site mailbox servers. However I fear once I shutdown the two mailbox servers at the primary site, the mailbox server at the secondary site will freak out and dismount the databases due to the mailbox servers no longer being online. Also is it even possible to place 2 nodes that are in a 3 node DAG in maintenenace mode at the same time?
I am not sure if I will need to run the of Stop-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup command as well as the Restore-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup command.
Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Kristine
Hi,
If i have 3rd party cert with all autodiscover smtp domain names how can we configure autodiscover externally without uag.
If we have uag then cert can be installed there and terminated for external use
Certs uses in internal organization are different then auto discover cert which has auto discover smtp domain names only
If we have uag then cert can be installed there and terminated for external use, what if no uag?
Thanks

I have the same issue in Exchange 2010. when I try to select "South Sudan" in Address and Phone tab. I don't see its listed "South Sudan"
Let me know if anyone fixed this issue???
--------------------------------------------------------We have currently 2 CAS servers, load balanced via Citrix NetScaler.
We have 2 Mailbox Servers with 1 DAG.
Citrix NetScaler have 2 VIPs;
1) Internal VIP
2) External VIP
In Single AD with Single site, we have 2 Zones;
1) ADdomain.com - Internal
--> This domain contains DNS A record. CAS1 IP <-> CAS1.ADdomain.com
--> This domain contains DNS A record. CAS2 IP <-> CAS2.ADdomain.com
2) RegisteredDomain.com - Users with this email id user@RegisteredDomain.com
--> This domain contains DNS A record. Internal VIP <-> webmail.RegisteredDomain.com
--> This domain contains DNS A record. Internal VIP <-> autodiscover.RegisteredDomain.com
As of now, RpcClientAccessServer entry is "CAS1.ADdomain.com".
After implementing Load Balancer, I have single URL "webmail.RegisteredDomain.com"
Now I need to change RpcClientAccessServer entry;
From current: CAS1@ADdomain.com
To: webmail.RegisteredDomain.com (this is already used as internal and external OWA).
Will it be ok, or have any issues for internal Outlook clients?
I have referred to articles like below, but a reply from someone who has already done this.
