Database '1a169e4b-c78d-4dbf-82e2-e5e85f275b0d' doesn't exist.

I am getting the below error in my mailbox server can some one help me to fix the issue.

Unable to delete message from submission queue in Exchange 2007

Hi,

I am trying to delete some NDR messages from the submission queue that accumulate due to a misconfigured application. However, the remove-message commands are not working. I tried:

get-message -filter {subject like "***subjectline***"} -server servername|remove-message -withNDR:$false

I get the following error message:

Same issue when I try to delete a specific message:

remove-message servername\Submission\20139506 -WithNDR:$false

I get the same exception message...

With the filter command:

remove-Message -filter {subject -like "***subject***"} -server servername -WithNDR:$false  -confirm:$false

I get no message no message gets removed.

Is this normal behaviour for messages in the submission queue?

The queues are going down slowly but I was hoping to speed things up by removing the invalid messages...

Maximum Duration in Minutes Room Booking - Exchange 2010 sp3

I have setup one room mailbox.  Under resource policy > Maximum Duration Minutes I typed 120 minutes.  This setting seems to take no affect.  I am able to book meetings in this room for longer than 2 hours.

Decomission Exchange 2003 server after 2010 transition

Hello,

Transition from Exchange 2003 server 2010 has been done and currently all mailboxes and PF are on 2010 server.

Only thing remaining is the smart host change and then decommission of Exchange 2003 server.

Below is our current mail flow:

Internet > Ironport > Exchange 2003 > Exchange 2010

I want to know how to accomplish below?

1) Will be changing smart host from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 on connector as well as Ironport. Doing this will bypass Exchange 2003 server and it will not be in picture anymore.

So it will be like;

Change To:

Internet > Ironport (configure it to point to Exchange 2010) > Exchange2010 (Change smart host as Ironport and Configure Send connector)

But what will happen to the applications/computer which are having Exchange 2003 server name/IP in thier application. If Exchang2003 is removed as stated above in the mail flow, then how will those application/computer recieve emails from Exchange 2010 server


An example;

--> In vCenter Server, we give Exchange server IP as SMTP server. Now if above change is done, still vCenter server will point to Exchange 2003 server only.

I have also taken out the report of all IPs that have communicated to Exchange 2003 in past 2 years.

Hope I am able to explain the situation.

remove existing share folders in windows domain client machines

Hi Team,

I used sysinternals tool shareenum & found in our Windows domain network many users have shared folders in their local machine which is highlighted by auditor. Now i have found a way through GP to block Filesharing but how can i remove existing shared folders from all windows client machines.

Please help.

Clear Retention Policy Tags from mailbox items

Hello Experts

I searched for this but didn't find clear answer so I decided to re word

running - exchange 2010 sp3 RU4

background - we had email retention policy applied to all mailboxes in the environment during 2010 migration project w/ retention hold enabled except for pilot batch users

there will be changes coming soon from the business regarding amending existing policy tags

currently testing this scenario

user A - policy enabled for 1 yr but on hold.. 50% items are expired

If policy gets removed from user A mailbox

question 1

how to clean existing tags from individual items in the mailbox? Can it be done or items are left like this forever

if yes, how long will it take to clear up automatically.. once you remove the retention policy from a mailbox, my guess is running MFA on demand will not do anything

question 2

Ex -if initial retention tag for inbox folder was 90 days and now changed to 270 days, during mfa re evaluation, will the "start date" be still calculated from first time message was stapmed or when it was re evaluated again

Can Exchange versions 2007, 2010 and 2013 all exist in the same site? Our environment was 2007. We installed Exchange 201o and moved our external connections to CAS 2010 array. We ere planning to migrate to 2010. After some though we figured we might as well go to Exchange 2013 instead. So I'm think that I could install 2013 HUB, CAS and Mailbox or CAS and Mailbox, remove the 2010 servers and start the migration. Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

Hi all,

I am running Exchange 2010 SP3 in a lab environment. I was working on the different virtual directories to change the different URLs, I then deployed a SAN certificate from my AD certification authority.

for the URLs, I used "autodiscover.mycompany.com.tn" for the AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri and mail.mycompany.com.tn for the other virtual directories (OWA, OAB, EWS, AS and ECP). both names are included in the certificate.

I encountered no certificate errors for outlook or OWA, but when running outlook web services test and web services connectivity tests, I get errors related to certificate issues

Here's the output of test-outlookwebservices. As you can see, autodiscover and EWS use both the name that I configured and the server FQDN which is not included in the certifcate and thus the errors. any reasons why it would still look for the server FQDN?

JetStress 2010 not working

Hi All,

I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 and installed all the Secutrity updates, Post which i have installed exchange pre-requesite and restarted.

I have installed Exchange 2010 Jetstress 64Bit on the server and copied all the requires ese.dll, eseperf.* files to jetstress install directtory.

Started Jetstess and click on Start New test and it gives "The type initializer for 'Microsoft.Exchange.Jetstress.Performance.Perflib' threw an exception"  I have tried multiple time and reboted server multiple times, re-installed jetstress multipletimes and i see same issue.

I also tried unlodctr ESE but same result.

CAS Array Configuration for second site

Scenario:

2 CA Servers in "Main Site", Included in CAS Array  mail.domain.com and users can access mail.domain.com/owa without problems.

1 CA Server in "DR Site" not included in any CAS array, 

As we have Additional Domain Controller in DR Site.

How to add the CA Server of "DR Site" to the CAS Array so that if "main Site" goes down all the traffic switch to that server.

Conflicts in mailbox

Hi

We have a client who has around 40,000 entries in their conflicts/sync issues folder of a mailbox.

They are complaining about the slowness of Outlook 2010 (with Exchange 2010), but are reluctant to deal the conflicts etc.

There were around 20,000 items in their inbox, which I have archived down to about 4,000 items.

I have since compacted the OST file, but this is still currently around 14Gb.

Is the only way forward to force them to act on the conflicts and sync issues?

Mail Routing for internal users

As a temporary solution we would like to block internal email communication between two groups of users unless their email traverses an external relay.  The idea would beuser1@domain.com and user2@domain.com currently email as normal.  We want to add new primary addresses for them (user1@new.com anduser2@anothernew.com). We need to maintain their old domain.com email address as well.  They are sitting on the same exchange server but on different databases.  We want any email from user1 to user2 to traverse an external relay rather than being sent directly within Exchange.  I assume I can setup an 2010 rule to say anything from*@new.com to *@anothernew.com must go via a certain relay?  If that is correct then what can I do with the domain.com emails should user1 send an email with a from address of their old domain.com email to user2@domain.com then would a rule even work?  Would appreciate any other potential solutions/thoughts as well please.

RPC Requests Failed Percent counters

I'm getting RPC Requests Failed Percent on one of the interfaces on one of DAG node.

CPU utilization is at 6% on avarage and memory is at 89%-90% so not abnormal for exchange

Could this be a Storage issue. I'm using SAN for storage

Exchange personal archive vs GFI vs Symantec enterprise vault

Hi,

Can someone help in deciding which options is best to go for archiving both personal as well as complainance archiving for users upto 5000.

We are looking for some solution which can give us PST free enviornment as well as full complainance archiving with great search results.

Options which i can think of as of now are below.

1. Exchange personal archive

2. GFI

3. Symantec enterprise vault

1. Solution should have intergration with outlook.

2. Fast search

3. Complainance for all the regulatory firms. etc

storedrv; mailbox disk is full

Hello,

I have setup a new Exchange 2010 Enterprise Edition server.  The log and database drives have plenty of free disk space.  However, when sending messages, they get stuck in the Queues and the following error is generated: "431 4.3.1 STOREDRV; mailbox disk is full."  There is also plenty of free disk space on the C:, where the Queues are located.  I've tried rebooting the server etc...

Any help, would be appreciated.

How to recover the mailboxes from the decommissioned exchange db .

Hello All,

I have 2 EDB files on my exchange server which is no longer active its been decommissioned and the EDB mailbox is dismounted, 

I would like to recover few emails/mail boxes from the EDB file and am not able to find any free tool which can help me in recovering the emails, 

1. How to recover the mailboxes from the decommissioned exchange db 


2.Tried using from free 3rd party tools which helped me view the mail boxes however am  unable to convert or recover the emails using the demo/ trial version and cant think of buy/purchasing the application since its very expensive $299 and $399 

I know there are lot of exchange gurus here who can help me with some workaround in recovering the mailboxes from the EBD or on how to convert the edb file to pst 

Looking forward to get some help from exchange gurus
