Mail-enabled Public Folders not showing as enabled in PFMC or EMS

$

Good morning

I have some PF's that are mail enabled, but running the Get-PublicFolder cmdlet shows "mailenabled" attribute as False. Also, in the PF Management Console, the folder shows as not mail enabled (with an option to enable it).

I found this thread that seems to be related:

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/918aad03-c96f-4023-89cc-ec2c66e51b93/mailenabled-public-folders-not-showing-as-mailenabled?forum=exchangesvrgenerallegacy

I'd like to do some testing, but recreating this issue with a test PF is actually really hard.

Does anyone know a way to force that "mailenabled" attribute to False after mail-enabling a PF? I can't find any ADSI attribute that is obvious. I changed MsExchRecipientTypeDetails to <not set> but that didn't do it...

**UPDATE** I just found out that msExchMailboxGuid is missing from that object. Does anyone have any kind of suggestion for how I can find the Guid of the mailbox that is no longer associated with this PF?

**UPDATE 2** I have found other PF's that are missing this attribute, but they are not displaying any symptoms. They are showing as mail enabled in the EMS and PFMC. So I guess this isn't a required attribute.

Could anyone explain the purpose of this attribute for mail-enabled public folders? I just assumed it was required.

Thanks!

Conditinal format of e-mail address.

All;

We have recently migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.

During all this years, the primary e-mail address of our users had been created on an in-house tool, that creates the user, their profiles, home folders, mailboxes and e-mail addresses.

The system uses a First Name initial plus full Last Name to create the address but, because it is a separate tool it can check if it exist and then add a second letter from the First Name, and so on including Middle Initial.

Is there a way to replicate that on Exchange 2010?

Will the "EnabledPrimarySMTPAddressTemplate" field handle a script block in Powershell?

With the addition of Lync and HR now wanting chnages to e-mail addresses (full First Name.Full Last Name@****) I see us needing to make sure we have Exchange take care of what is the primary address and how it looks rather than an outside tool.

Any help will be greately appreciated.

Retiring a DAG steps?

$

Good morning.

We are retiring the hardware used for our current DAG. Because of changes in the way the disks are laid out as well as block size we could not simply add a member to the DAG, seed it, and shut down the old servers. Had to create a new DAG with two new nodes and migrate mailboxes. It went well and no real issues (one failed move out of 700 is pretty good :))

Now I have to shut down the old DAGs. The old servers had Pub Folder DBs

I have added the replicas for the new servers and can remove the replicas for the old servers for "/" and everything after it.

I can remove one of the old servers from the DAG copies membership and delete the old databases.

Is there anything else that I would have to do? We have not touched our CAS servers as they are virtual so no End Of Life issues.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Hi,
exchange 2010 sp3 Edge (2 of them)

This is what I want:

outage@domainA.com to be rewritten to noreply@domainA.com outbound except for 1 email address.

CONFIGS:

new-AddressRewriteEntry  -Name "outage@domainA.com to noreply@domain.com" -InternalAddress outage@domainA.com -ExternalAddress noreply@domainA.com -OutboundOnly $True -ExceptionList john@contoso.com

This is working ...except for the “Exception” . The exception is still receiving the reply as noreply@domainA.com

Transport Rules

Hey,

Is there built-in intelligence in transport rules to know if somebody is to be BCC'd, not to do it if they're already in the To:, CC: or BCC: fields of the original email.

So if someone@externalcompany.com sends an email to Joe@ourcompany.com and CC's Jill@ourcompany.com, and there's a transport rule to BCC all email from users outside the organisation to Joe@ourcompany.com to Jill@ourcompany.com, I would expect Jill@ourcompany.com to have the same email twice - one as a result of them being directly CC'd, and the other as a result of them being BCC'd in a transport rule.

That's not happening for us - Jill@ourcompany.com only see's the one they're directly CC'd. The transport rule is sound because if they're not CC'd, they get the email from the BCC'd transport rule.

Thanks

Exchange sp3

Outlook 2010 sp1

I've come up with a script to give to the help desk that will save me from having to do lots of remedial work. The script gives the full access permission and send-as on a mailbox.

This script works but for some reason I cannot get the input window to appear on my screen

Here it is.

[void][System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName('Microsoft.VisualBasic')

$Identity = Read-Host "= [Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction]::InputBox("Enter the name of the Mailbox", "Username")"
$user = read-Host "Enter the name that will have full access rights"
$AccessRights = read-host [Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction]::InputBox("Enter the name that will have full access rights", "Name")
$ExtendedRights = Read-Host [Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction]::InputBox ("Enter the Extended Rights")

[System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName(“System.Windows.Forms”)
[system.Windows.Forms.MessageBox]::show("$Identity $user", "MyTitle")

Add-MailboxPermission -Identity $Identity -User $user -AccessRights $AccessRights
Add-ADPermission -Identity (Get-Mailbox $Identity).DistinguishedName -User $user  -ExtendedRights $ExtendedRights

Exchange 2010 impersonation for all accepted domains

$

Hi

To enable server side synchronization I had to enable exchange impersonation, I executed the following PowerShell command to do the server level impersonation

 New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Name:impersonationAssignmentName –Role:ApplicationImpersonation –User:serviceAccount

This commands works only for the domain "serviceAccount" user belongs to, in the server we have several other accepted domains. How can I make this impersonation across all accepted domains?

Your help is very much appreciated

Thanks

Moving Mailbox from Exchange 2003 to 2010 Storage Quota ?

$

I need help with an issue I am seeing. Here is the scenario

1) Move user mailbox from Exchange 2003 --> 2010 using the EMC GUI.

2) Once the move has completed the mailbox brings over the Storage Quotas from 2003. I want the server to use the NEW Mailbox Quotas that are setup on Exchange 2010.

Does anyone know a way to force the mailbox to use the NEW Storage Quotas instead of bring over the ones from a previous version or even from a previous mailbox?

Disappearing Notes in Meeting Requests with Room Mailboxes

$

We are running Exchange 2010 SP3. We observe this behavior with both Outlook 2010 and 2013.

When a user creates a new meeting request for a moderated room, the notes only show up on the organizers request (in their Outlook calendar pending), but the delegate cannot view the notes. There is information contained in the notes that will aid the delegate in approving or denying the meeting request in the various Rooms.

How can I make it so that the Notes in the Meeting Request are viewable by the delegate?

Thanks in advance!

Exception: "Failed to save MapiAclTable table" using Exfolder.exe

To Forum,

I currently have a user who is trying to share their Calendar to another fellow
employee and is getting a "The modified permissions cannot be saved."
within outlook 2010. I was able to replicate the issue on another outlook 2010
client. Did some research and discovered the Exfolder.exe tool for exchange
2010 and connect to database where the user resides and open calendar folder
permission and the default and anonymous were listed but they are not listed in
the user's outlook calendar permissions. I than proceeded to clear the ACLS and
add another exchange user and received the "Failed to save MapiAclTable
table. (hoping the default and anonymous would re-populate to user's calendar
permissions)<o:p></o:p>

The only information on google relating to this problem appears to be with exchange
public folders not a user's calendar ACL or DACL permissions. <o:p></o:p>

setup a rule to forward e-mails

I have a notification e-mail sent from an application I have to my exchange server (2010) via SMTP.  I would like that e-mail to be sent to its intended recipients, but at the same time , I would like that e-mail to be sent to another e-mail address in order to analyze the content.

Would that be possible to do on the exchange server?

Exchange 2010 OAB Downloading issue

$

Hi all,

I have a problem with exchange 2010 OAB. I did lot of online reading about this and did not find anything that fix the issue. After removing and reinstalling update rollup 6 and I found that all the client GALs are updating correctly with newly created user accounts. But when I download address book from outlook, it prompted an error “Task ‘test@domain.com’ reported error (0x80200049) : ‘The operation failed.’”. All clients are in Cached mode and newly created users are showing in GAL.

When I test with OAB URL (http://exchange.domain.int/OAB/85ae920a-8d6b-4783-8c6d-9c780785dafa/) in IE it prompts with below error.

403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.

But when I type OAB URL with oab.xml (http://exchange.domain.int/OAB/85ae920a-8d6b-4783-8c6d-9c780785dafa/oab.xml), it shows the xml file.

I have configured permissions as mentioned below.

Under OAB Virtual Directory I have OAB GUID folder and it has Read Permissions for the Authenticated users. For the web.config file it has Read & Execute Permissions for the Authenticated users.

Please help in this regard.
