Good day,
We started a cross forest migration from exch 2007 to exch 2010, we followed the Microsoft procedure (prepare-move-request -> ADMT for user migration -> new-move-request), everything worked just fine... Outlook clients automatically changed the
setting to point to the CASARRAY, free/busy worked perfect, GALs sync with no problems...
In the last month we were forced to change the SMTP primary addresses of users, this brought a lot of issues regarding the autodiscover service because of a mismatch between the Exchange published URLs and the SMTP domain in the user's mail address....
The worst issue came when we restarted the user's migration... after a user was migrated; the Outlook profile couldn't connect to the new server (an autodiscover problem), the only way to solve this was creating a new profile, but then the free/busy
was not unavailable.....
Our solution was to create an exclusive new virtual directory in IIS for autodiscover service (using the new SMTP domain and also a new SSL certificate)... we follow the steps provided in this linkhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310762(v=exchg.141).aspx
Again, everything worked just fine for our already migrated users.... but when we resumed the users migration a new problem appeared... Outlook clients are not able to send emails to any other migrated user.... why?? we found the OAB
in these Outlook profiles are still pointing to the 2007 Exchange server... also, when we hit the "connection status" in the clients there are 3 entries... 2 of them show a connection to CASARRAY (type=mail), and another one pointing
to the OLD exchange 2007 server (type=directory)... again our only solution is to create a new Outlook profile......
Does anyone have an idea of what's missing?? we have tried rebooting clients, restarting System Attendant service, hitting the "repair" option in Outlook profile... and nothing works but creating the new profile... we obviously don't want to create
new profiles for the remaining users to be migrated.
****Note: Our users' PCs are not joined to any domain.
Any suggestion will be much appreciated.
Best regards!
