Powershell PST Merge

I have an Exchange 2010 database with about 700 mailboxes. I need to merge a PST calendar file into all those mailboxes. I'd like to script it so I don't need to perform the merge for each mailbox individually. Does anyone have any recommendations or examples of scripts that I could use?

EdgeSync homeMTA set Deleted object in AD, event 2937-validation

Hi, Everyone,

I've got this event ID 2937 as following for a while (MailBox server), it doesn't seem to have any effects on email operations ( I can still send/receive mail all the time), but  I'm still concerned. I have done hours of searching, most of the suggestions are like :  Move mailbox ( I did);   get-mailbox | update-recipient ( I did) but so far this error message persists ( this  HomeMTA looks like is  for Edgesync, not for mailbox users, I used  ADSIEDIT to find out homeMTA for Edgesync objects is really pointed to the wrong value but I don't know how to manually alter it: we have  2 Edge Transport servers , et1.domain,et2.domain).  Any advices  are  greatly appreciated.

TXT record for Exchange Online federation trust

$

Hi All;

I'm probably missing something simple. I'm attempting to add a O365 based domain into a federation trust, in this case tenant.mail.onmicrosoft.com

The operation fails because I have not created a txt record for proof of ownership in the correct DNS zone. My question is what DNS zone do I configure the txt record in?

I've retrieved the required string easy enough for the tenant.mail.onmicrosoft.com domain. I thought I should put the record in the DNS zone tenant.mail.onmicrosoft.com, however I can't find that zone in the O365 portal. The only zone in the portal is tenant.onmicrosoft.com

Any idea what I'm missing? I just need to know what DNS zone to add the txt record, and if it's tenant.mail.onmicrosoft.com how can you access that zone

Retention Policy Not Working as Expected?

$

We are on Exchange 2010 SP3 rollup 17.

We don't currently enforce any email retention policies but are planning to implement a policy on the Deleted Items folder. For testing I have created a Deleted Items Retention Policy Tag. It is configured to permanently delete items after a 2 day age limit.

Several days ago I added the tag to a policy and applied the policy to my mailbox. The policy and tag appear to be configured correctly because, when I select an item in the Deleted Items folder, the retention policy tag is displayed along with the Expiration Date. However, none of the items in the Deleted Items folder are being removed. The items in the folder that are older than 2 days show "Expired".

The event logs indicate the Managed Folder Assistant is running daily and it processes about 2/3 of the mailboxes in our organization each day.

I have verified the following are not enabled:

LitigationHoldEnabled
SingleItemRecoveryEnabled
RetentionHoldEnabled

I have reviewed the docs to configure retention policies several times but haven't been able to identify the problem. Any ideas what I may have missed?

Exchange Server - Changing Send Connector - risks

Hello,

We have a need to send about 20000 emails (crisis periode).
About our architecture, we have two exchange servers 2010 configured as DAG. and protected with an antispam appliance which has a limit of 100emails/hour.

We think of rerouting sent emails (only) in Send Connector to the Internet Gateway. (from Exchange -----> Internet) (but Receiving remains through Antispam Exchange <---- AntiSpam <------ Internet)
I would like to ask, if this manipulation (which is temporary only) is not risky, and does not have any impact on security and blacklisting our public ip address.

Thank you in advance

Repeatedly Corrupted Search Catalogs on multiple DAG members

$

For several days now we've been seeing corrupted search catalogs on a number of mailbox databases on our Exchange 2010 8 member DAG.  Each time this happens I'm seeing the following events in the Application Logs of the affected servers:

MSExchange Search Indexer : Event ID 118

Exchange Search Indexer has temporarily disabled indexing of the mailbox database EX24R12 (GUID = 6644034b-2058-478e-bfde-442423cce41b) due to an error (Microsoft.Mapi.MapiExceptionMdbOffline: MapiExceptionMdbOffline: Unable to read events. (hr=0x80004005, ec=1142)

- and -

ExchangeStoreDB : Event ID 123

At '7/9/2010 9:54:22 AM' the Microsoft Exchange Information Store Database 'EX12S12' copy on this server experienced a corrupted search catalog. Consult the event log on the server for other "ExchangeStoreDb" and "MSExchange Search Indexer" events for more specific information about the failure. Reseeding the catalog is recommended via the 'Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy' task.

Each time this happens I'm able to resolve the issue by running "Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy MDB\Server -CatalogOnly", however this is continuing to happen and I can find to root cause.  Today it happened nearly immediately after we performed a database switchover of a number of databases, however not all databases (and not all mailbox servers) involved in the switchover experienced the corruption.  Additionally, the databases themselves all report as health, and I'm not seeing any disk or I/O errors in the System Logs of the affected mailbox servers.  This doesn't appear to be any kind of physical disk corruption.

This has happened with enough frequency (and has occurred without having been preceded by a database switchover event) that while all databases are reporting their ContentIndexState as healthy at present (after running the Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -CatalogOnly cmdlet), I am reasonably sure that this condition will occur once again.  What can I do to determine the root cause of this?

Hi All,

We currently have Exchange 2010 SP3 RU27 installed. It has 8 node DAG and we are planning to rremove 6 nodes out of it and uninstall Exchange from them. I am concerned if we remove the 6 nodes out of 8 will the DAG break and DB's will get dismounted.

Please suggest on how can i proceed?

Thanks -

Mass-removing calendar permissions

$
0
0

This should be easy but.. For some reason I don't seem to figure a way to do it easily.

Let's imagine we have an Exchange 2010 SP1 organization, with every user having configured their calendar rights in random ways. There are various permissions to random single users in every calendar. Now, we want to centrally grant certain permissions into every calendar either as Default permissions or to a specific group.

For example, we can easily grant Reviewer permissions to Default or a group named ABCD with Set-Mailboxfolderpermission/Add-Mailboxfolderpermission by a script looping through every mailbox, but more restrictive user-specific permissions override those. So, if there are previous user-level permissions, for example AvailabilityOnly for user A (member of ABCD), set in the calendar of user B, that user still only has the AvailabilityOnly access to the calendar even if the group permissions would grant him more.

Now to the question: Is there any way to reset user calendar permissions to default or totally remove all (user-configured) permissions? After that it would be easy to set Default and group-specific permissions correctly by scripting.

Remove-Mailboxfolderpermission does not seem to accept running without -User parameter set, and piping Get-Mailboxfolderpermission output to Remove-Mailboxfolderpermission does not work either.
