SCP pointing to wrong Autodiscover url

Hello,

A user brought this up to my attention. They're setting up a new profile in Outlook 2013 and they have ran across a certificate warning. When viewing the details, it's pointing to a different domain instead of the internal autodiscover url. We know who the other domain is since we worked with them but why would Outlook point to that instead of our internal? We don't have the external url set.

From what I'm reading. SCP will pick the oldest url to try first. Is there a way to view a list of URL and possible remove the url that's throwing a cert warning?

I've looked through AD Sites and Service and the servicebinding points to our internal url.  Also looked into ADSI and it shows the same result.

I've ran a Test Connection and it pulls the correct url via scp. 

The Remote connection test shows that it's trying domain.com instead of autodiscover.domain.com. We want to know why it's trying domain.com first instead of autodiscover.domain.com.

Greetings Email - NDR

Hi,

I have been assigned task to configure Boss's Executive Assistant's email box in a way that she should be able to send Greetings emails using her credentials but From id should appear a Boss's id.

so I did follow;

Created New Profile on EA's Outlook- Named it "Greetings"

Configured Greetings Account with POP settings

for Incoming Server I provided incorrect server settings 
for Outgoing Server I provided correct server settings - so mails can go outside

and provided EA's Credentials for Login Information

Tested it and worked as expected.

Next Day EA has done mail merge from Greetings Profile - and out of 200 messages some for some odd ids she received NDR.

What I wish to know is how she received NDR notification when Incoming server settings were wrong ?

Not sure on Boss has received NDR too in his mails box ?

Updating Exchange 2010 SP2 14.02.0247.005 to Exchange 2010 SP3

I have a few of questions.

1) Can I go directly from the first version of SP2 (no update rollups) to SP3. I know in some cases you have to take an "update path". 

2) I watched some videos on the process. It looks just like a matter of running the .exe and following the on screen instructions. I don't run a DAG and it's all in one place there is no failover or anything like that. It's a very simple install.

Is there anything special I need to do other than just running the .exe? Any special steps? 

3) What is the difference between 14.3.123.4 (SP3) and 14.3.210.2 (SP3 Update Rollup 7)

The main reason we are doing this is because we are transitioning to Office 365. In order to transfer our exhange to 365 it has to at least be Exchange 2010 SP3 (but they didn't mention update rollups). Do I need Update Rollup 7. And if so is there a straight path from 14.02.0247.005 to 14.3.210.2.

Need help with autodiscover issue

I am very close to getting autodiscover to work for systems on the outside of the LAN so when users enter their email address and password it autoconfigures and I don't have to manually enter the server address, etc.

I have been using the MS Remote Connectivity Analyzer ( https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/) to test my autodiscover settings.  Yesterday I was finally able to get it to test successfully.  However, when I try to set it up a phone for Exchange Activesync it will not setup automatically.  I still have to enter the server information manually.  I am not sure what I am missing. 

To be very specific about the MS Remote Connectivity Analyzer test results, if I click "ignore trust for SSL" the test comes back successful with no warning or errors.  If I run the test without clicking "ignore trust...." it comes back with a warning about the certificate.  The warning is below.  Looks benign to me.

Analyzing the certificate chains for compatibility problems with versions of Windows.
     Potential compatibility problems were identified with some versions of Windows.

    Additional Details
The Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer can only validate the certificate chain using the Root Certificate Update functionality from Windows Update. Your certificate may not be trusted on Windows if the "Update Root Certificates" feature isn't enabled.

Can someone please help me complete this process?  Everything is in place but for some reason it isn't working.  I have tried two seperate phones just to make sure it wasn't a particular phone.  Is there another way to test this without using a phone or the MS Remote Connectivity Analyzer?   thanks already

Can't setup my Exchane Server 2010 mail with my out-of-office Outlook 2016 computer

Hi, i'm having a domain in my private network (Win sbs server 2011 with MS Exchange server 2010). I'm trying do define my email account to use from a computer in my home, out of this network. I'm using Win10 Pro with Office 365. Going to control panel >> mail & define everything, but i'm getting the message "can't connect to exchange server....". When i'm doing the same actions & settings using other computer (win 7 + office 2010 \ win 10 + office 2010 \ Outlook app for ios) also out of this network - everythong is ok & i use this email from those computers. Is there any known prob using outlook 2016 with exchange server? i noticed that there isn't an "exchange" option in the settings, only "exchange active" or somethong like this.

How to generate Message and Folder Access Events in Exchange 2010

    Hello to all, I already tested Exchange Audit and it doesn't generates message and folder access entries for all kinds of recipents (owner, admins and delegate). I checked E2K10 Diagstic Logging and it does not explicitly have the older Exchange 2007 kind of events to be generated (Message Access and Folder Access). I need "Message Access" and "Folder Access" to be generated in Event Viewer, so I can get and record them. The IDs of this events in Exchange 2007 are: Folder Access– Event ID: 10100 and Message Access - Event ID: 10102 . If someone can go further I also need attachment opened and read.

    Any ideas of how to get them (or similar) in Exchange 2010?

Hi

on an edge server which is not joined to our domain we installed a certificate issued by our internal CA (smtp service to use domain security) but the status of the certificate is RevocationCheckFailure

there is no proxy or firewall rules between internal CA and the Edge server

Owa Works but Outlook clients will Not open

We have Exchange 2010 functioning in our main site and we installed and set it up at an additional site. I used directions for setting up Proxying and Redirection and OWA works outside the building and inside and I can set up the account on a Mobile device BUT I can not open the account on any Outlook Client.

I can't figure out what I am missing. It passes all of the tests on the testexchangeconnectivity website.

When you try to open Outlook this is what we receive: Cannot Open your default email Folders. Microsoft Exchange is not available.

This is my last roadblock to migrating our plants.

Outlook client can not receive email but owa work fine

Hi All,

I have problem, i used exchange 2010 SP 1 with domain controller windows server 2008 R2.

sometime outlook client can send email but can not receive email then i try to access by owa all services work fine send/receive.

when send/receive email outlook get error "the operation timed out waiting for response from the receiving pop server"

i try to restart all sevices exchange server after restart service outlook can receive email and back to normaly.

how to fix permanently this problem without restart service exchange server.

any ideas ?

Sending failed 421 4.3.2

I found an issue with sending emails while refreshing some of the dashboard panel, below is a screen dump of the error. This is a Microsoft Exchange server error being returned by Jade, a Google search returned a number of items, are you able to have a look at this and advise the settings to allow more concurrent connections

Archived emails in exchange 2010

Hi all,

After my email gets archived with Exchange 2010 it leaves empty folders in my inbox, that I would like to clean up. Am I able to delete the folders in the inbox without affecting the archive?

Try to moving mailbox from Exch2010 mailbox database to exchange 2013 Mailbox database. Use power shell command : New-Moverequest on Exchange Shell on  new exchange 2013 server and getting below message


The Powershell command say its move but originally the mailbox is not moved to new database.

Public Folder Replication Query and Help Needed

Hello Team

In my current exchange 2010 setup, there 6 Mailbox servers , in which one of the Public folder database size is high compared to other 5 servers. 

So i decided to remove the public folder server from the replication and delete the current public folder (which is in high in size) - Recreate the Public folder in the same name and finally the re-add the server in the replicas (Macro Level Plan)

Micro Level Steps :

  1. Identifying  the mailbox databases which pointing to  PFDB(Which is in HIgh is Size)  and  Re-point to another PF databases Like another PF database -(So that users cannot affect in terms of OAB, and other stuff)
  2. Remove the Public folder server EXMB03 from the replication list. (.\RemoveReplicaFromPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder \ -ServerToRemove  EXMBB03
  3. Copy the Public  Folder database to another location (For Safer Side) and delete the public folder on EXMBB03
  4. Create a new public folder database onEXMBB03.
  5. Add the EXMBB03 server in the replication List  (

.\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder “\” -ServerToAdd “EXMBB03”

.\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 -TopPublicFolder “\NON_IPM_SUBTREE” -ServerToAdd “EXMBB03”

Is that above all the steps are correct ? or do i need to add anything . 

I have to replicate around 650GB of PF Content  from the other servers to EXMBB03 , As per the default settings in the public folder replication 300KB / 15 Min - so the full replication take more than 2 Month to complete?

3 mailbox servers in one site and 3 mailbox servers in another site . 

What is the quickest time we could do a full replication? - Can we increase replication size other than the default ?  will it affect the any user impact in outlook / server  performance related issue

at least by weekends so that there won't be any performance related issue .  if i need increase size of the replication, do i need to unmount and mount the PF database

Please help on this

We are planning to upgrade to Exchange 2016 . For this we are planning to update to  Roll up 14 on our current environment. 

Current environment is Exchange 2010 SP3 UR 6 . 

t's mentioned that Supported Operating System for Update Rollup 14 For Exchange 2010 SP3 are 

Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows XP

Finding Attachments In Exchange 2013 by suffix or partial filename

Folks:

I have a client trying to find attachments by suffix in Exchange 2013.  I know how to do this by name but how can it be done by suffix?  Whenever I try a wildcard it throws me an error.  This example is trying to find any messages with a .wav file as an attachment and send it to a mailbox and folder as indicated.  How would one do this?  I think the problem is the '*' as the unexpected character.

I cannot delete my GOOGLE CONTACT folder

I keep getting contacts in my outlook GOOGLE CONTACTS FOLDER, I do not want any input from my google account. I have deleted all contacts from existing google GMAIL account and deleted all unused google accounts that I know of. It seems there is a GOOGLE CONTACTS folder in the EXCHANGE server that keeps shoving contacts into my OUTLOOK PEOPLE web app and into my PC OUTLOOK program. 

How can I eliminate this connection and those contacts. I have tried everything I know.
