Does Exchange alert all attendees of a conflict, or just the meeting organizer? I just noticed if I send out a meeting request where a room is already booked, I get notified of the conflict, but the rest of the attendees get the normal request and can accept the meeting. When they accept, of course nothing goes to the room calendar but gets added to the users calendar. Is this normal behavior or am I not doing something correctly.

Can't move mail from Inbox to Folders nested within the Inbox after SP2 RU7 update
I'm running Exchange 2010 SP2 RU7 (Recently upgraded from SP2 RU3) after this upgrade it appears that I have users who can no longer move mail from their inbox into folders that are nested in their inbox. (not .pst folders) these folders reside on the server with the mailbox. When the users try to move a mail they receive and error message that says "Cannot move the items. The item cannot be moved. It was either already moved or deleted, or access was denied." This behavior is always from a 2007 Outlook Client (always)
From OWA when we try to perform the same action the error that comes up is "Some items could not be moved. This may be because the folder has reached it's size limit."
From 2010 Outlook client (NO PROBLEMS) can move mail without issue.
I've ensured the users mailbox is well within it's size limit. This is mailbox that has a 25G limit because of it's use. It currently using 4 gigs of space out of the 25g.
EVEN STRANGER....it's not all emails that are having the issue moving. It appears to be any / all emails that are generated. There's no one domain (at last count there were 29 different unique domains these emails are coming from). What I mean by generated emails are emails coming out of ERP systems or CRM systems. Such as invoicing or process ordering. I don't know if that's just coincidence or not, but we've consistantly had no issues moving mail out of the inbox into folders as long as it was sent by a live user mailbox.
Thanks for any feedback

Exchange 2003 to 2010 Public folder Migration issue
I have successfully replicated our Exchange 2003 public folders to our exchange 2010 public folders using the addreplica script in exchange 2010 PS. I have moved all mailboxes to use the public folders on Exchange 2010. A couple of days ago I ran the"moveallreplicas.ps1", and the command successfully ran and has removed all replica pointers in the exchange 2010 PF database pointing to the exchange 2003 database. In Exchange 2003 ESM, I still have the replication to all the PF databases, and the 2k3 has not been removed, nor has the public folder instances folder count changed at all. In searching through the logs I am getting this error on the exchange 2003 event viewer for applications about every minute or less.
This is an SMTP protocol log for virtual server ID 1, connection #58254. The client at "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" sent a "xexch50" command, and the SMTP server responded with "504 Need to authenticate first ". The full command sent was "xexch50 1076 2". This will probably cause the connection to fail.
The client IP indicated in the error is a Exchange 2010 server with the HUB/CAS roles loaded onto it. I am not sure if this is related or not.
I see some people have ran the move all replicas from the Exchange 2003 ESM, should I do that now? Is this even something to worry about since all my mailboxes are using the PF on 2010?
Thanks for any assistance!
How can users view their Personal Archive space available?
I know they will receive a warning message when they are approaching the limit, but how can a user easily see how much has been used and how much is still available in Outlook 2010 and OWA?
I only see size information on their primary mailbox, not the archive box? Users are going to want to know if they are 50% full or 80% full before they get warnings.
Block messages by words in message body
How can I create a transport rule in MS Exchange Server 2010 to block email messages based on keywords found in the body of the message? I don't see it as an option.
Thank you
Online Archive - Deleted Items Folder
Hello,
I have setup retention policy and tags. It seems to be working okay, almost. A default retention tag applies which archives items after one year. This seems to be working ok for folders such as inbox, and sent. However, it does not seem to be working for the deleted items folder.
I've also created personal tags to archive after various periods. Users try to apply those personal tags to the Deleted Items folder, but the managementAssistent never listens to that personal tag on the deleted items folder. Personal tags do work for other folder (custom and inbox, etc). And the managementAssistant does run as expected... just not on the deleted items folder. This happens for another (6 month personal tag to archive deleted items folder), and same for my mailbox (1 week personal tag to archive deleted items folder).
Any suggestions?

Outlook Profile Not Updated to New CAS Array After Mailbox Move Between Sites
I am working on a large mailbox migration from one AD site to another.
Exchange version at both sites:Exchange 2010 SP2
Two Mailbox Servers: MBX01 in site A / MBX02 in site B
(There is a DAG but keeping this simple)
Two CAS Arrays: CASA.domain.com / CASB.domain.com
The RPCClientAccessServer property is set accordingly. Where MBX01 is set to CASA.domain.com and MBX02 is set to CASB.domain.com
Clients:Outlook 2010 SP1
Scenario: I successfully move a mailbox from Site A to Site B. The Outlook client does not automatically update its server settings to point to the new cas array (CASB.domain.com) and continues to connect to the old CAS server (CASA.domain.com).
I have seen a few articles regarding this pointing to workarounds such as:
- repairing the outlook profile on the client
- delete the existing outlook profile
- run a script to update the prf file (re-cache's email at the client)
I am interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced this, what their solution was for a large migration and if any roll-ups or service packs have possibly fixed this problem.
I would also like to know if you have seen this affect ActiveSync devices. I am getting mixed results in my tests and thought it may be contributed toward different device types, mobile os versions, etc...
I have posted this to the Outlook forum as well, just wasn't sure where to start.
Thanks.

ECP cannot display Out Of Office feature for a particular user
Hi;
I want to use ECP on my Exchange 2010 to configure the Out Of Office for a particular user who did not turn it on before going vacation. However; when I go to ECP and checking her account, I do not see "Tell people you're on vacation" feature. For other user, this feature is no problem.
Why it is not visible for her account only?
thx!

No existing Publicfolder matches the identity '\'
We are in the process of migrating from Exch 2003 to 2010. Despite a troublesome installation of 2010, most seems OK. However we have the following issues with Public folders and replication:
on the 2010 server, EMC tools Public folder management console cannot connect to or view the public folder DB "No existing PublicFolder matches the following identity: '\'
Public folders do appear to be replicating since the DB matches the size of the DB on the 2003 server. We can view public folder content from a test mailbox on the 2010 server but the exch2003 server reports all public folders are "Local Modified" instead of "In Sync". In Exchange system manager -> tools -> Monitoring & Status -> Status - the new 2010 server is reported as "unreachable" and if you select properties a pop-up reports:
"Unable to connect to the WMI service
....
ID no c1038692"
It reports that the new server is stopped and it can't find the state of the server's services.
- all services are running normally on both servers.
Any help much appreciated.
Exchange 2010 DAG
Hi Team,
I have 3 exchange 2010 mailbox servers installed and we have configured DAG between these 3 servers.
2 servers are in one site and 1 server is in another site.
We are frequently seing issues which shows DB status as "SERVICE DOWN" and just one refresh will bring in actual status.
What i mean to say is Service is not really down if at all it was then refresh would have not solved the problem.
Any suggestion on how to resolve this will be highly appreciated.
Note: we are using single NIC for replication and MAPI sessions.

Exchange 2010 - SP3, Multi-Site Dag. Reseeding.
I am reseeding a database across the WAN and have a few questions. I am hoping you guys can help.
When doing a full database reseed why does the CQL start at ridiculously high number? Say 878,512 Logs, when the database is only 112.5GB?
What are the disk sapce requirements for reseeding? I understand that the option "Delete Existnig Files" only deletes log files and not database files.
When the reseed starts the edb file is moved into the "temp-seeding" directory, I understand that part of the process. However if thedatabase were 100GB in size and an existing database file @ 100GB was moved, (to the mentioned diretory) would I need an additional 100GB of space to do my reseed? so to do my reseed - would i need 100% free sapce?
I have 400 GB of Log Drive Space available. But only 200 GB of Drive space (total) for the EDB file, and about 85GB free.
Really trying to understand this better and just cant seem to find a direct answer

Moved mailboxes now Disconnected and I cannot reconnect
Hello all
I work at a school. We recently upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. We have moved all staff and student accounts from the old to the new server (after much fussing - see previous post if interested).
For some reason, 65 of our many student accounts moved successfully and appeared initially in the Recipient Configuration - Mailbox area of the EMC. However, this morning, those accounts have moved to the Disconnected Mailbox area. I have tried to reconnect by right-clicking and selecting "Connect" but as I step through the wizard, I cannot select the user account name as a "Matching User" (account name does not seem to exist when I search) or "Existing" user (their name is not in the list).
I have confirmed that the AD account still DOES exist and can login. However, when they open Outlook, it cannot resolve the account name.
I tried to Create New Mailbox for an "Existing User" but I could not find the various user accounts in the available list. I then tried to create a New Mailbox for a "New User" and used one of the offending account names. At the end when I selected to create, I got an error that basically said that "The value <name> of property "SamAccountname" is used by another recipient object... Please specify a unique value".
What has happened to these 65 account mailboxes and how can I reconnect them to their valid and live accounts?
Thanks for everything.

RBAC question
is there a way to restrict them for just creating role and role groups?
Note: they should not be able to modify role groups (add or remove members.....)
