From reading various articles posted on this forum I understand that Exchange 2010, specifically the store.exe process, is designed to use almost all available memory. Based on several articles the memory should be somewhere between 90% and 94%. However on my server I am seeing 99.7% usage on average. I have Exchange running in a vmware VM. I have 8 vProcs, 48GB of memory, and a 72GB pagefile. Also we have about 1400 users. Hub, Transport, Client, and mailbox are all running on this one server. This high memory utilization seems to periodically cause outlook clients to receive a "please wait" popup message. I also see periodic 100% spikes in CPU utilization from store.exe (all eight processors are utilized with this happens). Any thoughts or suggestions from anyone would be appreciated.

Exchange 2010 Retention Policy - Deleting Archived Items
Our current retention policy is configured to do the following
Archive all Emails for every user 3 Months or Older to a separate Archive Mailbox Database.
We then Perform Monthly, and Yearly backups of this Archive Database. Our Yearly's are 7 Year backups.
Since we will have the data backed up to tapes for 7 years we would like to purge the Archive Database of all Emails older than 2 years.
If I implement a tag of Permanently Delete -All other folders with an Age limit of 730 days would this remove the items from the "Archive Mailbox's" as we would like?
Calendar Questions
Question 1:
One of our VPs has Outlook calendar delegated to his assistant. When a meeting request arrives, both the VP and his assistant will receive it. Occasionally, when the assistant tries to respond the meeting, she will notice there are 2 identical duplicates shown on VP’s calendar; one is accepted but doesn’t show who accepted it. Another one is not yet responded.
The assistant ever tries to delete the not-yet-responded one, but sometime causes the accepted one disappeared either.
Can you explain what the root cause is? And how to deal with it properly when it happens?
Question 2:
The VP occasionally gets confused that: some meeting requests require his response, some don’t. Can you explain the scenarios when he needs response, when he doesn’t?
Thanks!

Report of distribution list that are manage by a list of 300+ username
I've got a list of 300+ users i'm trying find out what distribution list they manage and export it out to one report. I can get following to work with
one user on the input file but not on a list of users.

Using Exchange Mailbox Distribution
All;
Our Exchange setup covers two data centers on two separate AD Sites.
I would like to use the Automatic Mailbox Distribution but with the distinction that;
- new mailbox request are all processed by our access center group.
- mailboxes could be created at either site depending on user location.
I thought about creating database scopes, but because the same team creates all of them, the scopes will have to be change at run-time based on the user location in the request form...
Any other ideas will be appreciated.

DAG Concept not working in my Exchange 2010
Hi ,
Exchange 2010
In my setup two mailbox servers and 2 servers with HUB and CAS role.
One of my mailbox servers got down and DAG not works , and also noticed all database dismounted including the other mailbox server Databases.
When Mailbox server brought up and all databases mounted without any manual intervention.
We have given file share witness as hub server.
Is there specific reason for this?
Thanks
Exchange 2010 - MultiSite DAG
Hey Team,
We have a client that just informed me they have network maintenance scheduled for the offsite data center on 1/25, they have the 3rd copy of all their mailbox databases at that datacenter. The network will be down for 8-12 hours.
Do you think it would be best to remove the database copy (remove-mailboxdatabasecopy) from the site that's going to be unreachable? Or could I just get away with suspending replication?
They have DAC mode enabled, however there will be no databases being dismounted, remounted during the time the networks are disconnected. Additionally (and although not in use here) the FSW is in the primary site.
So the question: Should I remove the mailbox database copy and reseed afterwords, or just suspend the remote copy?
Thanks,
Robert

Exchange 2010 Accessing another user's inbox on different CAS/MAILBOX server with Outlook 2010 Sync Issues
Hello,
I have an issue that started at the end of November, seemingly randomly. I have another user's mailbox, the Sysadmin mailbox, added to my Outlook account so it appears in the left pane. This was working fine before, but all of a sudden I noticed that it wasn't updating and the last email I can see is from 11/25/2013. I removed the account, and tried to add it again in the Account Settings -> "Open these additional mailboxes" settings. However, now all I see is "Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. The operation failed. An object cannot be found." When I access the mailbox from OWA, it works fine, even using my credentials. The only difference is that this mailbox is on a different mailbox database, which is mounted in a different AD site so it connects using a different CAS server.
In the Sync Issues, I see several errors. Most of them are thus:
18:54:25 Error synchronizing folder
18:54:25 [8004011C-521-8004011C-0]
18:54:25 Your profile is not configured. (/o=GST/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=ExchGroupMd.gst.com)

That link does not lead anywhere. These errors repeat many many times. Anybody know what this means?
Exchnage 2010 Powershell script quesiotn.
We need to generate a script that can retrieve all users in a specific MSAD OU who have:
- Full access permissions to another user on their mailbox, where the mailbox they have access to has an online archive.
- Script output should be a list of usernames, and the mailbox they have access to which has an archive.
Thanks!
Default Global Address List
Hello all. Running Exchange 2010 Standard SP3 and I am having a strange issue right now.
My Outlook clients (2010 and 2013) can only see the GAL when in cached mode. For some users they are setup with cached mode turned off and in these cases they cannot see the GAL when opening the address book. If they type in a name it will return that.
Any thoughts on what this could be?
How to block documents in OWA 2010 by MIME Type?
Hello!
We have Exchange 2010 SP2.
We need to block specified mails, like: Word, Excel by MIME Type, even if file extension was changed or deleted.
I tried to do it with "Direct File Access Settings" of OWA Properties, but each such file could be downloaded by right clicking and choosing "Save Target As".
Can i disable "Save Target As" option for such kind of file types?
Thanks!
Search-Mailbox -identity & DeleteContent
Hi. I ran powershell scripts on a users mailbox (test lab):
Search-Mailbox -identity 'user name' -SearchQuery '(received:01/02/2003..21/01/2014) AND (kind:email)' -DeleteContent
Search-Mailbox -identity 'user name' -SearchQuery '(received:01/02/2003..21/01/2014 AND (kind:meetings)' -DeleteContent
When I compared the results post script execution 'Test-Lab Vs Production' the email retained in the Test Lab mailbox were not as expected.
9 Emails remained in the users Mailbox. Received date varied. The 4 dated 22/01/2014 were expected. The additional 5 were not. I would have expected these to have been deleted.
22/01/2014 x 4
23/09/2013 * 1
10/04/2013 x 1
02/01/2013 x 1
06/12/2012 x 1
22/01/2012 x 1
The script to remove calendar appointments appears to have deleted ALL appointment's (future > 2101/2014).
Is anybody able to shed some light as to why I am seeing the results that I am?
Kind Regards,
Phil.

activesync 10 device limit, how can i remove it for 1 mailbox?
i know that there is a default of 10 devices using the throttling policy, but is there anyway to specify a mailbox to allow more than 10? i want to enable 1 mailbox to be accessed by over 200 devices, and leave all the other mailboxes to 10.
i read this in another post on here
"By default in Exchange 2010 SP1, only 10 devices (=EAS PartnerShips) is allowed.
This setting is found in the Default ThrottlingPolicy (Get-ThrottlingPolicy Default*| fl Name,EASMaxDevices) and can be changed as desired.
Example: Set-ThrottlingPolicy Default* -EASMaxDevices 1
With the above setting, before a new PartnerShip can be created, the old one has to be deleted."
can this be done?
thank you!
Multiple Receive Connectors behind NLB
Hi,
Got a very strange setup here and I'm not sure if I should/ need to make any changes. I'm looking at mail flowing in to the organisation from our smart host (up in the cloud).
Total of 7 Exchange 2010 servers, each with all the roles installed. 4 in the site P (Pmail1, Pmail2, Pmail3, Pmail4) 3 in site S (smail1, smail2, smail3).
These are sitting behind a NLB per site. Site P's NLB has all exchange servers configured as SMTP but there is only a receive connector configured on Pmail1. Surely all servers should have a receive connector?
Looking at the NLB in site S, again all exchange servers configured, but only a receive connector on smail1.
Can anyone advise if this is best practise? and should I add in receive connectors on the other servers? would this effect performance?
Thanks

Exchange 2010: Forward e-mail to one account to multiple recipients
Exchange 2010
External and internal e-mails that are sent to lab@mydomain.com need to be forwarded to multiple internal exchange 2010 recipients.
I set up a Universal Distribution group in Exchange and added those users, but this did not work.
What is the procedure for this?

Exchange 2010, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2011 (Mac)
Hey Team
I am working on an issue with "Send on Behalf of", the permissions have been granted and it is working, however the user wants to be able to do the following: (And only the following)
1) Click on the Inbox of her manager (In outlook), She has full access permissions and send on behalf for his box.
2) Send a message, from his Inbox.
3) Have the message she just sent show up as "Sent on behalf of" - without having to select the from field.
As mentioned above she is able to do "Send on behalf of" if she selects new message, from field >> manager name, and then she can send her email that way.
I think this has something to do with delegation, she is using outlook 2010.
Any ideas?

Room Mailbox / Resource mailbox visible for all customers. Possible to hide?
Hi there,
We are hosting several clients on an Exchange 2010 (14.2, Build 247.5) environment.
Each client (company) is setup with their own GAL, with a custom attribute to identify with for the mailboxes.
The problem i'm having is that all created Room mailboxes/Resource mailboxes are visible for every single client/company.
Is there any possible way to easily hide Room mailboxes, and only make them visible for the company users themselves?
So far we have only restricted booking access, so that only employees of said company can book meetings, but we would like to hide them for other users as well.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
