Can't edit in Exchange 2010 Management Console

My account is a member of the local administrators group, and Exchange Organization Administrators. Most things in Exchange Management Console are locked. For example, when I open the properties of a mailbox, all of the editable fields are gray and have a padlock icon. Am I missing an AD group membership?

Thanks

How to restrict users from deleting emails on there own Mailbox in Exhcange 2010

$

Team,

we have a common mailbox and set of users are logging into the mailbox directly by providing common mailbox user id and password , as they do not have theie personal mailboxes.

Now there is a requirement to restrict deletions ... as they do are accesing common maibox.

tried below option on one of the user mailbox, still not working.

can anyone provide some recommendation to acheive this requirement.

Add-MailboxPermission -Identity info@xxx.xx -Userinfo@xxx.xx -Deny -AccessRights DeleteItem

( if the mailbox configured as additional mailbox, would think the above commnad will work by changing the parameter)

Can some body please help

Mails getting Duplicated - Event 1108

Hi,

We are having Exchange 2010 SP3 (3 MBX, 2 CAS in PR/2 MBX+CAS in DR) in our environment and recently we've updated Ex2010 SP3 Rollup 23 for all our servers. After the upgrade few users reported they are getting some duplicate emails from same recipients. Some users received hundreds of copies of the same mail. When investigating we found that there were thousands events logged related to once database in one server (where that database has been mounted) during that period.  Also found that those users who got duplicate mails also reside in the same database.

Please help us to identify why this has happened.

Regards,

Kavindu

Exchange 2010 SP3 Autodiscover issues

Hello,

Sort of a weird issue with autodiscover.

Internally, I have Outlook 2010 clients that set up without issue but I'm trying to get Outlook 2016 working (In prcess of moving to Office 365). I upgraded my office package and 2016 works, and this is the same for multiple others, however, any fresh installs will not open outlook 2016. As I understand it, 2016 relys solely on Autodiscover so I went there.

Using https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com I get a positive result when accessinghttps://autodiscover.<MyDomain>.co.uk:443/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml.

Internally, using "Test email Autoconfiguration" I get a valid SCP record, failure, 401 errors and timeouts but never a success. It proceeds to go through the motions and eventually fails after a SRV record is not found.

I've changed registry keys one by one to troubleshoot the different steps of Autodiscover nad diabled ADAL etc but without any success.

If I browse to the Autodiscover URL that matches the internal url, I get a 600 error as expected and the certificate is good, but only in Firefox, Internet explorer hits me with a 401 error.

I then go to the server, check all permissions on the Virtual directories, and everythign is as it shoudl be based on other technet articles.

I then run Test-OutlookWebServices on the server and things get a bit weird.

My results are as follows: [PS] C:\Windows\system32>test-outlookwebservices | fl

This seems to point me to a confguration issue of some sort? The SCP record matches the internal URL, but I keep getting 401 errors. Go to the EXCH2010 path to autodiscover (which is server name and not published anywhere as Autodiscover directory), and althought eh certificate is not there (Expected) the autodiscover service is contacted???

I ran Get-Client AccessServer and get the following:

So I am out of ideas. Is it just a case of recreating the Autodiscover virtual directory and seeing if that works? would that break my working clients.

I know this is an old exchange box, and after migrating our mailboxes to O365 I will be upgrading it, but as a pre-requisite to migration I have to have a workign Autodiscover internally as well as externally.

Any ideas would be great.

Configuring a Secondary Email Account

My company has just purchased another company. We will be keeping their brand name and not bringing it into ours. I need to have another email account setup with this new company's domain. I have a primary domain with my main company and all users have email xyz@company1.com. I now have a new company domain @company2.com that I have MX records for but I have not added the new one to AD and I have added an Accepted domain in Exchange 2010. I need to add an email address (one address for now) for comapny 2. How do I go about creating a new mailbox and give others access? Do I need to create a new OU for that second company and add a user?

Hi

1) I have a Outlook 2003 that is runs Exchange cached-mode. Mailbox size is around 40gigs
2) I convert the OST file to PST using a third party converter, I store this PST to a backup location
3) Workstation is upgraded to Windows 7 (from XP). Outlook 2010 installed, also run cached-mode
4) The question: is it possible to import the generated PST file to Outlook 2010 so that it won't have to download the 40gigs mailbox to workstation?

Autodiscover: UPN, Alias & Primary SMTP

$

Hi,

What are the requirements for autodiscover to work properly? In our environment we have this standard:

User logon name: firstname.lastname@domain.com (Joe.Bloggs@domain.com)
Pre-Windows 2000: DOMAIN\initials (DOMAIN\JB)
Exchange alias: JB (purely because the new e-mail account GUI defaults to this based on the pre-Windows 2000 logon name)
Primary SMTP: firstname.lastname@domain.com

With this setup, the Outlook app from Microsoft does NOT work automatically. If I do the RCA tool, everything looks ok.

Thanks

Both my Exchange 2010 servers are showing Event Id 36887 error on the system log. The source is schannel.

I'm running Exchange 2010 on 2008 R2. My certificates are issued by a Windows CA. The CRL is reachable and correct. The certificates also look correct to me.

Everything works fine, but the error keeps coming.

Any idea what can be causing this?

attempting to restore an ex2010 database.  eseutil /r completes successfully but only takes 2 seconds.  DB is still in "dirty shutdown."  So I attempt eseutil /p and it goes through all the way to "deleting unicode fixup table" then crashes.  I've tried it 4 times, on two different servers, same result:

I need to send users a direct link to the OWA change password section under the Options tab in Exchange 2010.

I can't seem to get this right, can someone tell me how to direct-link to this page?  I know users will have to authenticate to change their password, and this is my intent.
