server name in outlook profile stay the same after SSL changed from local to public fqdn

$

Hi,

I switched our UCC certificate for exchange 2010 so that it is no longer include .local in it. I used different FQDN url for external and internal (i.e externaURL is ExSrv.abc.com and internalURL is InSrv.abc.com). After I changed all settings, I found that the outlook profiles are still using the internal server name (i.e. myexchangesrv.abc.local). Is this normal? Should I expect the server name to be the new internalURL? The following are the commands I used and I also used EMC to change the OWA and ECP's internal URL to "InSrv.abc.com" as well. Did I missing anything?

Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity MyExchangSrv -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri https://InSrv.abc.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://InSrv.abc.com/ews/exchange.asmx

Set-OABVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\OAB (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://InSrv.abc.com/oab

set-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl "https://InSrv.abc.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync

Thank you,

Export nearly dead DAG member configuration?

$

In 2010, we had a (now-defunct) integrator come in configure our 3 member DAG set up.  All three servers split duties on all the Exchange roles, except the #1 server, which acts as our main OWA server. Server #2 has developed an issue where it BSODs every 30 minutes and neither Microsoft Pro Support nor Dell Support can fix the issue (mountmgr.sys 050 bugcheck error).  In the event that server #2 cannot be fixed, is there any way to export its Exchange settings (within the 30 minute window) so I can re-configure it?

Thanks in advance!

Exchange 2010 cross mailbox database search

$

Hi there,

I have a customer who has an interesting scenario. They have an exchange 2010 server with 3 mailbox databases. They want to do a search for a text string across all databases which is reasonably straight forward but they also want to take that search back in time and do a search across the databases as they were at points in time in the past (1 year and 2 years ago). They have backups to recover and we are thinking that we can recover the databases at the points in time required but we're unsure whether the search works across recovered databases.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this or advise on how this might be achieved?

Thanks,

Rich

getting SChannel alert 46 after replacing SSL certificate with public FQDN

Hi,

Due to the SSL certificate no longer support .local, I installed a new UCC certificates to my exchange 2010 server. After that, I'm getting the following event (about three to four per second). There isn't any reported issue after the certificate replaced. Also, in Process Explorer shown the PID 548 is "isass.exe" running services: CNG Key Isolation, Netlogon and Security Accounts Manager.

I can't find any solution from Google. Please help me if anyone know this. Thank you.

Retention Policy doesn't work

Good day colleagues!

We've made next:

1) Change the action of default Personal Tag "1 Week Delete" from "Delete and Allow Recovery" to "Permanently Delete"

2) Create new retention policy "test", assign tag "1 Week Delete" to this policy and specify some mailboxes.

3) Check "Retention Policy" at properties of specified mailboxes to be sure that it applied to mailboxes.

4) Wait at least one day (to start automatic maintaince), after run Start-ManagedFolderAssiatant for specified mailboxes, but nothing happened. There are many old e-mails (which timestamp older than one week) in specified mailboxes. We expect that this e-mails will be deleted according retention policy "test".

Could anybody explains why this policy wasn't apllied?

Team calendar not showing after change of Manager

$

Hi all,

we are using the team calendar feature in our organization by filling out the "Manager" attribute in AD and Exchange. Since the old manager left the company and we changed the attribute to the new manager our users can't see the team calendar in Outlook anymore.

I have already checked if the attribute is set properly and all looks fine. I have no idea what to do. I have also recognized that our users don't see the "Show Manager's Team Calendars" option in Outlook since we changed the manager.

Do you have any ideas what to do now? Maybe there is a option to create the team calendar again?

We are using Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010.

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Hi

I have an Exchange 2010 server and all emails to Hotmail are blocked. I can add our domain to the safe senders and this then works. Is there anything I can do in Exchange to prevent this or do I need to get our domain added to some allow list with Microsoft?

Outlook 2013/Outlook 2007 Shared mailbox folders not showing

$

Okay,

Have a VERY strange issue that I've looked high and low for a 'like' issue, and found nothing, so here goes...

Have Exchange server 2010 - MOST users have Office/Outlook 2007 - we're upgrading users to 2013 - so far only two user are upgraded to Office/Outlook 2013 to iron out bugs.

Scenario is - have a shared mailbox that all users access - one user who's upgraded to 2013 is the 'admin' as far as emails and such for this mailbox, creates a folder/sub-folder in her 2013 Outlook - after she creates the folder - ALL the users with 2007 can see/use this folder - she can't - folder 'disappears' from her Outlook folders list ???????

Anyone EVER heard of/seen this before???

Windows 7 login screen buttons not working (sort of)

$

Okay,

It seems I'm plagued with the weird and strange issues, so the gist is...

Have a Dell Latitude E6330 with Windows 7 Ult.  When I boot up and get to where you login, when I click on ANY of the on desktop 'buttons' (i.e. the 'login' arrow after putting in creds, Switch User, red Shut Down or up arrow for other options, etc.), the button shows as being 'clicked' (the button press/depress reaction shows), but NOTHING happens.

I've uninstalled/re-installed drivers - plugged in an actual mouse - nothing works.

The ONLY workaround that seems to give it a 'kick' is to put in your creds in and click 'Enter', then log out and the buttons work, BUT if you're a different user, where you would usually just click on Switch User, you have to leave the current user password blank and just click Enter so the 'The user name or password is incorrect' error comes up - THEN when you can click on the buttons, they 'work' now?????

So other than re-installing the OS (which we DON'T REALLY want to do, has anyone EVER seen this before???

Send text message from OWA 2010 without a phone plan

$

I have users who want to send text messages from OWA, but they don't have a phone plan.

When you click "new" instead of choosing "message" "meeting request" there is an option for SMS if you have a mobile phone sync'ed to your account.

Is there a way to send SMS messages (click New>SMS) without having a SMS plan tied to the account?  I though it used the microsoft server to send the messages, not your phone carrier's?

Thanks!

Authenication changed to for OWA user logon. Users can not login

When visiting our OWA page, users would log-on with their username.

There was many requests to change it to email address, so I changed the authentication type under Server Config>Client Access>OWA site

Previously it was set as "user name only" and I changed it to "User Principal Name (UPN)"

It worked that when you were at the OWA page, it would ask you for your email address...only entering your email address and password did not work.  I could not get it to work for any users.

My question.  Where is it getting the logon "email address" credentials?  Is it getting it from the users reply to email address?  It does not seem to be...

Advice would be appreciated.

Exchange 2010 - DAG Alternate Witness Server

$

We have a fairly simple Exchange setup.

2 Edge Transports

3 Hub/CAS

2 Mailbox servers

The mailbox servers are part of a DAG and we can manually fail over the mailboxes, public folders and OAB's between these servers without issue.

However the DAG has one of the CAS servers configured as a Witness Server and as soon as this server goes offline you cannot configure the cluster. What I would like to do, and have tried and failed, is to add an alternate witness server/directory.

I have added this configuration to the DAG, utilising one of the other CAS servers, and while I was watching this server I confirmed the configuration change and watched as the folder was created.

However, when I look inside this folder I can see the FQDN for the DAG but when drilling down further I do not see the GUID that references it (I assume) and I do not see the two files that exist in that folder on the other CAS server.

Simply put, at this time we are happy with manual activation of these services and would like an existing copy of the cluster information on the other server and be able to reboot or power off the original FSW without completely breaking Exchange.

I have read something about DAC but have also read this is not wanted or required with only 2 DAG members.

Any assistance would be greatly received.

Hi,

Thanks for looking (sorry if this posted in the wrong forum!).

I need to get some information from AD/Exchange, what I need to pipe the get-aduser command to get-mailboxstatistics

The information I need is:

SamAccountName, DisplayName, , lastlogintime, EmployeeID, Office, CanonicalName, MailboxSize.

Been trying to get the following working then export to CSV

$users = Get-adUser TestAccount -properties *
$users | Foreach-Object{

    $user = $_
    $stats = Get-MailboxStatistics $user

    New-Object -TypeName PSObject -Property @{
        FirstName = $user.FirstName
        LastName = $user.LastName
        SamAccount = $user.SamAccountName
        Department = $user.Department
        EmployeeID = $user.employeeID
        EmployeeNumber = $user.employeenumber
        Division = $user.Divison
        Office = $user.Office
        OU = $user.canonicalname
        Email = $user.mail
        Mobile = $user.mobilePhone
        LastLogon = $user.lastlogondate
        MailboxSize = $stats.TotalItemSize
        ItemCount =  $stats.ItemCount
            }
}

Any help would be great! Thank you

Hello

We are running an Exchange 2010 SP1 and our Outlook 2010 clients are not able to connect to users' mailboxes. When we open Outlook 2010 client, we keep on getting a pop-up requesting to enter credentials. The same credentials work on OWA but don't seem to get accepted by Outlook 2010 client.

Any ideas?

Outlook Meeting room entries contain no details

$

Hi,

When inviting meeting rooms as resources it doesn't contain the actual details that I add in.

For example.

I go into my calendar, create new meeting request and invite the meeting room as resource.

I add the details of what the meeting is about and send the invite.

The invite gets accepted by the calendar but when I open it, there's nothing in the details area?

If I direct book into the calendar by double clicking in the calendar, it contains it but what we want to be able to do is book directly into one calendar and invite another calendar (meeting room).

Using Exchange Server 2010

Microsoft office 2010

Let me know if you want any other information

Thanks
