Tooltip not showing when there is Room conflict

$

We recently set up Room and Resource Calendars in Exchange 2010. Everything is working properly except I though if you have a conflict when scheduling a Room that a tooltip would show above the Send button that says "Conflicts with another appoinment in your calendar" I have noticed that this only shows when there is a conflict in my own calendar. I there is a conflict in the resource calendar it doesn't shows.

I can go to the scheduling assistant tab and see there is a conflict with the room. If Outlook knows there is a conflict with the room why does it not show the tooltip for that room. I can preach to my people until I am blue in the face about using the scheduling assistant but alot do not even check it before scheduling. Should there be something that warns of a conflict before you send.

I don't want to enable direct booking from the old 2003 days where it generates a popup

Import PST to Outlook 2010 that is in cached-mode

Hi

1) I have a Outlook 2003 that is runs Exchange cached-mode. Mailbox size is around 40gigs
2) I convert the OST file to PST using a third party converter, I store this PST to a backup location
3) Workstation is upgraded to Windows 7 (from XP). Outlook 2010 installed, also run cached-mode
4) The question: is it possible to import the generated PST file to Outlook 2010 so that it won't have to download the 40gigs mailbox to workstation?

Issues with server name while creating a new profile

$

We noticed that since our upgrade to SP2 RU4-V2, when we create a new profile or even modify an existing profile, the name of the cas array that we entered as the server name gets replaced by the name of a server with the CAS role but not always one of the cas array.

Our configuration is as follows: in site A, there are four servers, 3 (2 primary holding active/passive databases with all roles installed - 1 holding lag copies of the databases) are in the same DAG and 1 is the DR server of our European site (all roles are also installed). We do load balancing using an applianced NLB which points to the two primary servers defined earlier.

When the CAS Array was first created, we were told the leave the "members" field empty since the load balancing would be done by the NLB. I checked the databases of this dag and the RPCClientAccessServer all point to the name of the cas.

I would definitely like to understand what this is? Was this part of a bug fix with SP2?

Thanks

Set-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration isn't delivering mail to the sent folder of the delegated mailbox

All,

I have an Exchange 2010 SP2 UR4 v2 environment and when the following command is applied, mail messages from the delegated person's sent folder, does not get copied into the delegated mailbox's sent folder.

Set-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration –Identity ‘CEO Mailbox’ –SendAsItemsCopiedTo SenderAndFrom –SendOnBehalfOfItemsCopiedTo SenderAndFrom

I thought this was suppose to take care of this.  Now must the Information Store be restarted each time the command is applied to a mailbox?

What gives?

Thanks,

Christian

Uninstall roles from existing Exchange 2010 installation.

Hello all,

I hope that you are well !

I have a customer with Exchange 2010 SP2. Now he want to enable OWA for his users.

We facing with this issue, actually both of Exchange 2010 server are configured with the following roles (CAS, HUB and MBX).

For security is it better for us, to uninstall roles we care about the MBX role facing the Internet.

What we plan is to remove CAS and HUB over those two servers and install and configure on two (2) new server but it seem's not the right solution.

What do you suggest, do you think that we can leave this configuration over our existing and enable OWA without any issue regarding security.

Best regards,

Stephane

Exchange 2010 SP2 R5v2 CAS Array creation resulted in OWA error

Hello, I had recently created a CAS array using m.domain.com as the FQDN. This FQDN was already being utilized as the client endpoint for OWA, active sync, etc..

I now get OWA errors when accessing m.domain.com/owa. It seems that when I log in I can see my main inbox, but when I try any other actions I get a pop up that states"an unexpected error has occurred and your request couldn't be handled."

I can't seem to track down the resolution to this issue.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I have installed the CAS array in preparation for DAG. We will eventually load balancing the two CAS servers with an HLB but for now I created the CAS Array so new mailbox databases would use it as the connection point for outlook. Prior to creating the CAS Array, I was already using m.domain.com as my FQDN to have client connect to it externally for OWA, Active Sync, Outlook Anywhere.

Exchange 2010 Hub Sizing

Hi,

I am trying to determine what the capacity / throughput would be for Exchange 2010 Hub Servers.

Ok I know the answer is, it depends what is being sent through them and the specification of the server etc....

But I'm after a rough order of magnitude for a standard physical server, 2 procs (6 cores each), 8GB Ram, RAID 1 disk etc.

Does anyone have any stats?

Thanks

Mark

no errors in IIS logs

In a cross-forest migration but fresh new account in the new domain also get the error.

Hello,

We are using exchange 2010 SP2.

We have some external users which use now pop3 to download their email messages from our exchange 2003.

I need to put a solution in place so these users can be migrate to exchange 2010.

I'm looking for some reverse proxy which also does ldap authentication.

A cas server in dmz is not supported so that is not an option for me, also looked at forefront 2010 but no authentication for pop3.

Anyone any recommendation what I can use?

Thanks for the help.

Disabling an Mailbox in litigation hold

Running Exchange 2010 SP2

I have a mailbox in litigation hold which I need to associate with a different user account. I also need to keep the mailbox in Litigation hold during that process and not lose any of the data in "Recoverable Items"

If I disable a mailbox currently in litigation hold for the purpose of attaching it to a different user account, will the act of disabling and re-enabling clear the litigation hold setting and effectively delete data in the "Recoverable Items" Folder?

Upgraded 2007 Exchange environment. Can't send mail from 2010 mailboxes to 2007 mailboxes

$

I am sure the answer to this is blindingly easy, and I'll gladly kick myself when I get it...

Existing Exchange 2007 environment:

VMPCS021 - 2007 SP3 Edge on 2008 R2

VMPCS110 - 2007 SP3 CAS/HUB/Mailbox on 2008 R2 - Running public folders

VMPCS111 - 2007 SP3 CAS/HUB/OWA on 2008 R2

Added new Exchange 2010 SP1 servers:

VMPCS112 - 2010 SP1 CAS/HUB/Mailbox on 2008 R2 - running public folders. In DAG with 113

VMPCS113 - 2010 SP1 CAS/HUB/Mailbox on 2008 R2 - running OWA. In DAG with 112

VMPCS115 - 2010 SP1 CAS/HUB on 2008 R2 - Witness server for DAG

My situation is:

Mailboxes on 2010 can send mail to mailboxes on 2007 or 2010 exchange servers. They are not able to send email to the internet.

Mailboxes on 2007 can send mail to 2007 mailboxes but not 2010. They can send and recieve from the internet.

I removed the edge server subscription on vmpcs021 and created a new one and imported it in to replace the old certificate. When I try and send mail from 2007 mailboxes to 2010 mailboxes, it goes into the queue on vmpcs110 and eventually dies as 550 4.4.37 QUEUE.Expired.

If I try and send to an external address it eventually dies with the same error. I have pasted the NDR below:

What gives? Any ideas on this would help, and as I said, I figure it's something blindingly simple. I have removed and reinstalled both the hub and cas roles on both vmpcs112 and vmpcs113 with no change in the behavior.

List of all mailboxes with EWS or AD / GetSearchableMailboxes(.) for Exchange 2010

List of all mailboxes / GetSearchableMailboxes(.) for Exchange 2010

How can I receive a list of all mailboxes (email addresses) with EWS (Exchange 2010)? An alternative might be to get all user email addresses from the Active Directory.

I've tried to use this method:

GetSearchableMailboxesResponse mailboxresult = service.GetSearchableMailboxes(null,true);

But it throws the ServiceVersionException: "The service request GetSearchableMailboxes is only valid for Exchange version Exchange2013 or later." I'm using Exchange 2010.

Details of my requirements (perhaps there's a workaround):

I want to read all appointsments (in a given date) of all users. The code for reading appointments of a given mailbox address works fine, but I have to iterate over all mailboxes.

Can't Move All Replica's in a 2K3 to 2K10 Transition

$

Hi just tried to upgraded Public Folder'sfrom Exchange 2003 to 2010 SP1 over the weekend. I followed these instructions to migrate the Public folders to the new server:

-On old server, navigate to Administrative Groups > First Administrative Group > Servers > Servername > First Storage Group

-Right click on the Public Folder Store and select Move All Replicas.  The only option that should appear in the list is your Exchange 2010 server.  Click OK.

So I did that, however the new Exchange 2010 servers are not there. The drop down is blank. If I go on the old server and navigate to first administrative group->folders->public folders and right click on one of the public folders, there is a replication tab with just the old server's public folder store in the list.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Exchange/Outlook 2010 Multiple Thousands of Duplicate Single Calendar Item (Recurring Meeting)

$

Hi Folks - hoping someone can provide assistance.  We're in an Exchange 2010 environment and have run into an issue where Outlook 2010 and OWA crash when a user attempts to access his calendar.  The few times we've been able to successfully get a list view of the calendar, it shows over 100,000 calendar items and the majority appear to be a single occurence of a recurring meeting dating back 3 years. (it's still a valid active and ongoing recurring meeting)  We can't keep the list view open long enough to tell if this is the only duplicate item before Outlook crashes.  This specific user syncs two iOS devices with his mailbox, so we're not sure if that's at the root of the issue.  Any ideas of how to remove these multiple items without too much pain so we can try to find out what's causing it?   Thanks much!

Microsoft Exchange Web Services (EWS) Managed API 1.2.1

We are currently running an Exchange 2010 server on 64bit architecture.

We now have a requirement to run the X86 version of the EWS API on the server for integration with a third party product.

Microsoft clearly state server side support for Exchange has only been on x64 platforms since Exchange 2007 for live environment

With that in mind can anyone confirm that using the x86 EWS API doesn't leave us in an unsupported configuration?

Thanks

Hi,

(Exchange 2010 version 14.02)

I've created in de Exchangeserver>Organization Configuration->Mailbox>Sharing Policies: a new policy for any domain "*" and added a mailbox (the one I want to share outside the organisation)

When I try to publish a calender through OWA I get this error (see title)?

When I try this in Outlook 2007 sp3 on the same account it is greyed out.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Kind regards

Email received but not delivered in Exchange 2010

$

Hi, We are fighting for some emails that were received by the server but not delivered to user's mailbox (in Outlook or webmail).

When I use the Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant to trace these messages, I found there is on one log entry for them, that is EventID RECEIVE.

For other emails that are normal, I can find 2 log entries per email. One is EventID Receive, followed another one is EventID DELIVER.

So why do those emails only have one log entry? How can I retrieve them?

I have done most of the migration from a single exchange 2003 server single domain to single exchange 2010 box is single domain environment.  All mailboxes and pf(only 2) have been on new server.  Old server still active with no mailboxes.  I disabled the lan port on old email server for a couple of hours last monday and several people where complaining of outlook freezing up and slowness.  I quickly reenabled the port and rebooted exchange 2003 box, evertyhing fine.  I didn't notice a lockup on my machine, but unlike my machine the people experiencing lockups have multiple users shared calendars open and alot of meeting requests.  I am assuming I have something screwed up or not understanding with old free/busy pf on exchange 2003 box.  I have followed the white papers on replicating and moving pf to new server.  any ideas. thanks.
