Outlook 2010 to Exchange 2010 server connection issue

I have a few remote machines that are suddenly unable to connect to the exchange 2010 server with outlook 2010 or 2013.  The machines attempt to connect, ask for the username/password (if it isn't already saved) and then say disconnected.  I tried deleting the accounts & all profiles and recreating them, but both autodiscover and manually entering the settings fails to connect to the server.

I am able to successfully ping, nslookup and connect to the OWA site from these machines.  I can connect to these accounts via activesync on mobile devices.  I can connect to the same accounts using outlook on other machines.  The server passed the test-OutlookWebServices and test-OutlookConnectivity tests.

The RCA OA test works fine for the manual server settings.  It fails here if I use autodiscover:

ExRCA is attempting to retrieve an XML Autodiscover response from URL https://autodiscover.domain.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml for user chickensandwich@domain.com.
ExRCA failed to obtain an Autodiscover XML response.

I have tried everything I know to do (not much), and everything I could find on this forum (much).  Has anyone ever solved this problem?  Thanks.
