Hi,
I have a single server exchange 2010 running on windows server 2008 r2. I have decided to re-configure the disk array on this system, which will require me to backup and restore exchange. Here is the current configuration:
Current:
Array 1 is a Raid 1 with 2 disks and has a single volume C: with the OS + Mailbox db's + logs
Array 2 is a Raid 5 with 4 disks and has a single volume D: with Exchange related files and folders (size >2TB)
Future:
Array 1 will stay as is (raid 1 on 2 disks)
Array 2 will become a Raid 1 with 2 disks and house a single volume D: with Exchange + logs
Array 3 will become a Raid 1 with 2 disks and house a single volume F: with Mailbox db's
so my question is:
Can I simply do this:
- Backup all exchange related folders (inetpub, Program Files\Microsoft Exchange) from D: onto an external drive
- Build arrays 2 and 3 with drives D: and F:
- Restore the exchange related folders from step 1 back onto D:
- Reboot the server and everything will work? :)
Any suggestions?
thanks!
