Can't Connect Exchange Edge Server to Internet, but Hub Works

I have an operational Exchange organization, and wish to add the Edge role to it.  I am running just fine with the Hub role connected directly to the Intrernet (through my TMG firewall), but I hope to block more spam using the Edge role.  I have my two edge servers installed and functional with an NLB address between the two, but when I attempt to change the IP address for the Hub role to my Edge role on the web balanced IP address, I stop receiving emails.  I've set up the EdgeSync to both Edge roles, which allowed me to send from my TMG successfully, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why I'm not able to send from external systems to mine.  When I try from testexchangeconnectivity, I get the following error: 
     The specified port is either blocked, not listening, or not producing the expected response.

The TMG says:
     Failed Connection Attempt FIREWALL1 11/23/2012 11:34:22 AM
     Log type: Firewall service
     Status: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. 
     Rule: Inbound SMTP Traffic

Yet, when I switch the TMG back to my Hub role, all works fine.  Any idea what I'm missing here?  Thanks ...
